ABOUT
My career in public service began in 1984 as a deputy sheriff. I went on to serve as an instructor at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and later as a city chief of police. Stepping into leadership as chief taught me a lesson I never forgot—people are the most important part of leadership.
I’ve been honored with awards such as the Order of the Palmetto, but the real lessons came through challenges and failures that proved no leader is perfect. Every leader grows wiser through experience.
As a member of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Training Council, I worked to raise professional standards and hold officers accountable, including decertifying those who broke their oath. Protecting the integrity of the badge was always a priority.
Today, I believe leadership is not about rank or title. Everyone is a leader because we all influence the people around us. I share the lessons I’ve learned to help others lead with integrity, humility, and confidence, grounded in real-world experience.
