ABOUT
I began my public service journey in 1984 as a deputy sheriff, later becoming an instructor at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and eventually serving as a city chief of police. That role taught me the most important leadership lesson I’ve learned: it’s always about people, not position.
I’ve been honored with awards like the Order of the Palmetto, but the real growth came from setbacks. Leadership isn’t about being perfect—it’s about learning, adapting, and doing what’s right under pressure.
As a member of the state’s Criminal Justice Academy Training Council, I helped raise professional standards and hold officers accountable, because protecting the badge’s integrity has always mattered to me.
Today, I speak and train to help others lead with integrity, humility, and real-world confidence—no title required.
